Sand Blast Weekend Sandblast Weekend Swan Boat ride

As part of Asbury Park’s history as an amusement destination it once boasted a Ferris Wheel, roller coaster and all manner of rides along the boardwalk.   One of the most popular and best remembered was the Swan Boats, a big hit  since the early 1940s.    These once-popular U-Pedal boats of past years were gone by the 1970s, but this summer they’ve landed back in Wesley Lake, with seating up to four per watercraft.

There will be seven to eight boats in the shape of white and black swans, dragons and pelicans.  The cost for half-hour rides will be $18 for two riders for 30 minutes.

At the south end of the Asbury boardwalk head along the lake toward our historic downtown and you’ll find the dock right next to the footbridge between Asbury Park and Ocean Grove.

Within 2 minutes of being at the Silverball, a wonderful feeling swept over me. I realized I could play any of the games, as many times as I wanted to, for hours upon end. What a fantasy that can be reality at this amazing museum.

Not only can you view the history of pinball, but you can PLAY WITH IT!  There are ONE HUNDRED pinball machines here from the so you might want to set a few hours aside if you're a huge pinball enthusiast or if you have kids because they will want to play EVERY. SINGLE. GAME, which, since they're all free to play with admission, is not a problem. Let the fun commence!

You will leave feeling like you're a young kid again, and with the sound of "DING, DING DING DING, DING!" in your ears.                http://silverballmuseum.com/

Brielle Cyclery is in the Fifth Avenue Boardwalk and they have these fab 4-seater trolleys you can rent and ride up and down the boardwalk, as well as a great selection of beautiful beach cruisers for rent.   Nice staff, reasonable prices. They don't take reservations and didn't offer us helmets when we rented.

Sure you can rent a bike here, but don’t underestimate the silly fun of a trolley packed with your friends and you behind the wheel.

Who wouldn’t want to run around all day splashing in refreshing cold water on a hot summer day?  A popular feature on the Asbury Park boardwalk, the Splash Park has strategic placement of various structures which spill water over, shoot it up in the air, gush it out the sides, and splash it on little feet. While the Jersey Shore children and families scream with joy as they run through the gushing water, you and your friends have got give this a try.

The biggest and most loved feature is the giant teacup and saucer atop a 25-foot high table that is continually filling up. A toot-toot signal goes off as it is about to spill over and all the children rush over to stand under its huge splash screaming with delight. The photo tells it all.

Open from 10am to 7pm, the Splash Park is the best bargain on the beach at just $5 to play!

Candy is synonymous with the Jersey Shore. When thinking back to the Asbury Park of yesteryear the boardwalk was always home to a candy store.

Candyteria, located in the First Avenue Pavilion, closest to the Ruined Casino, is a true delight on the Asbury Park boardwalk.  Most akin to a traditional boardwalk shop, this store breaks the mold of your typical candy store.  The décor is bright, clean, colorful and most definitely playful. The walls are lined with bulk candy bins as well as a large M&M’s display with dozens of available colors.

In the back there is an awesome Jelly Belly wall with enough flavors to please the most avid fan of this cult favorite.  Littered throughout are racks of hard to find classics that we remember as kids.

“Best Beach Party of the Year”

Madam Marie, was an American fortune teller and psychic reader who worked on the Asbury Park boardwalk from 1932 until 2008.  She was a fixture in Asbury Park for decades, telling fortunes on and off at her tiny booth on the boardwalk which is nicknamed The Temple of Knowledge.  She read the fortunes of celebrities ranging from Judy Garland to Bruce Springsteen.

Springsteen mentioned Castello in his 1973 song, “4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy) which earned her a certain amount of fame among his fans.  Springsteen wrote in the song's lyrics of her "Did you hear the cops finally busted Madam Marie for tellin' fortunes better than they do."  Springsteen turned her into an icon.  After Madam Marie’s death in 2008 her beloved granddaughter continued doing readings and will tell your fortune for you.
